Prisoner Escapes Police Cell Using Plank and Bar
Ernest Peters, a Tennessee native, pried loose a cell bar with a plank and fled the city police station Saturday afternoon. Joseph Sommerville, jailed with him, stayed behind after threats, but Peters was recaptured about 13 hours later and placed in a steel cage. Peters, convicted that morning of non support, received one year on the state road force.
