JAYS HE DROPPED LIQUOR AND RAN
Charlies Williams a colored chauffeur was detained on May 21 for importing liquor beyond Prohibition limits. He faced a preliminary hearing, was committed for grand jury action, and later case reopenings followed as he sought a lawyer. A witness testified Williams rode with others to a carnival, then dropped a sack of liquor from a car which officers recovered with six quarts and 17 bottles of beer.
