Handley High Prom Week Festivities Begin With Graduation Events
An estimated 1000 people attended Handley High School events opening gradation week. The senior class held an 8 p.m. baccalaureate service in the auditorium. Tomorrow night features the junior-senior prom in the gym with a dance to follow. Diplomas are to be presented 8 p.m. Thursday at Handley auditorium along with a procession to Mt. Hebron cemetery for benefactors. If rain interrupts the parade, flowers will be trucked to the cemetery. Rev. Robert Bridges, a Handley graduate now in Cumberland, spoke of continual striving for goals. The service was led by the Ministerial Association with Handley glee clubs and a cappella choir providing special music.

Rock Enon Site Readied for Scout Campers
About 100 volunteers from all three districts of the Shenandoah Area Boy Scout Council worked Saturday at Rock Enon near Gore to ready the camp for the July opening. Work included a power unit building near completion, docks and swim walls fixed, a new troop camp site cleared, and dead trees removed. Summer staff report June 29. camp runs five weeks starting July 4.
