Levine accompanies Chamberlin on the Columbia flight, choosing between Berlin or Rome. The narrative references Lindbergh era milestones and aviation history.
A single engine monoplane the Columbia lifts off from New York at 6 05 am daylight time bound for Berlin with Clarence Chamberlin and Charles A Levine aboard. Levine, without his hat, joins as backer and passenger as the plane pursues a longer distance than Paris route and plans to beat Lindbergh’s record.
Elks win 16 to 6 over Kiwanis in a Tuesday contest at Handley Stadium. Darlington pitched for the Elks as McFadden and Hollis relieved, holding the Kiwanis scoreless in the late innings. this is the Elks’ second victory after a 12 to 12 tie with the Rotary Club.
Archibald R. Dennis a leading grain broker and Baltimore social figure died at a hospital after a bullet wound at the Baltimore Club. He was 49 and found by friend Judge John H. Stanford after a pistol shot in a club room. Motive unknown and no foul play suspected. He headed Dennis and Company Inc. Survived by widow, two brothers including Maryland treasurer John M. Dennis, a Frederick attorney, and four sisters.

Mrs. Myrtle Fisher wife of George W. Fisher died suddenly at her Moorefield West Virginia home this morning. A Stephens City native she was about fifty and survived by her husband a daughter and two brothers. Funeral and burial set for Moorefield on Monday.

Three men Marvin Johnson Kearney Wright and Harry L Casby were killed when their airplane plunged 500 feet at Jubi lee flying field Fort Worth Texas shortly before noon. The craft burst into flames and the bodies were burned.
Despite rain the Stonewall Cemetery grounds are prepared for Confederate Memorial Day with flowers at every grave and tiny Confederate flags by headstones. The Stonewall Memorial Association and local volunteers have cleaned the grounds and arranged a floral display. If clear tomorrow a public observance is planned. if rain interrupts the parade, the program moves to the Handley Library lecture room.
Members of the Sarah Zane Fire Company voted to join the Confederate memorial parade on June 6 with drum corps and truck. They also accepted an invitation to the Cumberland Valley Firemen’s Association convention in Westernport Maryland from August 9 to 11. Younger drum corps members gave talks to train for future officers, and several candidates for membership will be voted on at the next meeting.
The Oliver Exposition Shows open at 1 PM on June 6 at the Smith lot on Berryville Pike. Proceeds support the Firemen's Welfare Association and its department operations. The carnival features five rides, 12 big shows and 50 concessions for visitors.

Daniel Funk sues Commercial and Savings Bank of Winchester for 332 dollars plus interest claiming he deposited funds not withdrawn except 34.50. The bank says the account is closed after checks. Funk testifies he drew only 34.50 to 100, denies authorizing any checks, and alleges forgery. Trial before Judge Philip Williams continues with police and sheriff testimony expected.
Empire Theatre plans a strong summer program with Paramount First National Warner Metro-Goldwyn and Fox releases. Highlights include Whirlwind of Youth with Lois Moran, The Taxi Dancer with Joan Crawford and Owen Moore, plus a Lindbergh flight reel. Wrapping up Friday and Saturday Rin-Tin-Tin tracks at Empire and Wolf's Clothing at the Colonial.
At Cherbourg on June 4 the Memphis steamed out while Charles A Lindbergh waved farewell to Europe after his solo transatlantic flight. The note praises his achievement and marks a new triumph as the United States ships and dignitaries honor him.
