Robert Newton Hardesty, 59, a prominent Clarke County cattle dealer from the Hardesty Bros. firm, was found dead at his Summit Point home yesterday afternoon from heart trouble. Survived by two brothers and two sisters, with funeral set for Pleasant Vale at 11 a.m. Sunday conducted by Rev. L F Harper. Funeral and burial in Berryville cemetery.
J Henkel Henry completed filing his declaration of candidacy for the State Senate with County Treasurer Robt S Smith ahead of the Democratic primary on August 2. The submission, made at 2 o clock yesterday afternoon, finishes the list of contestants in the party’s primary.
The Oliver Exposition Shows begin at 1 PM on Confederate Memorial Day in Winchester drawing out-of-town visitors for a week of high-class entertainment. The carnival emphasizes rides and prizes including prettiest babies in three age groups and a beauty contest yielding Miss Winchester, with gold prizes for lucky winners.
Friendship Fire Company members are requested to meet at the engine house in full uniform on Monday morning June 6 at 10 o'clock to participate in the parade. Captain Fred W. Forney signs the notice. Raymond Roe, a county youth, is indicted for stealing a Ford roadster from Marsh You-Drive-It on May 2 and awaits possible additional indictments in Circuit Court. Additional indictments name P Lt Shade and S S Nesmith for possessing a stolen automobile sold from Washington. Capiuses will be issued for those at liberty under bond. Grand jury foreman C. Vernon Eddy and members were listed.

Confederates will observe Memorial Day on Monday June 6 with a large parade and extensive ceremonies at Stonewall Cemetery. The event includes a veterans parade from city hall and battlefield marker dedications at Kernstown and another site, with headstones fundraising and a balloting of attendees for ceremonies.

Santa Monica California June. Einar Hansen motion picture player died in a hospital after a mysterious accident. He was found beside his wrecked car with a leg wound like a bullet and died over four hours later. Police report the injury may indicate a bullet but autopsy pending. Two men found him and said a heavy object may have struck his car as it sped along the coast highway north of Santa Monica. Virginia Lanham, visiting relatives in Washington, has returned home.
