Caution Urged On Polar Dash By Airplane Relays
Letter from Alexander Spotswood Dandridge of Winchester Va dated June 1 urges caution in rushing to the North Pole. He argues fog and ice mountains make rapid air travel impractical and that a staged relay approach with bases every fifty to a hundred miles is necessary to weather prolonged storms. He notes the journey will require time and money and that such cautious planning will influence national attitudes.
