Phineas S. Robinson, 17, of Winchester, drowned after being seized by a cramp while swimming in the Shenandoah River below Riverton. Three companions tried to rescue him as boats and bystanders joined in the long search. the body was recovered after about two hours, with a doctor declaring rigor mortis upon arrival.

Funeral Rites Tomorrow For Mrs Swartz
Funeral services for the late Mrs. Edna Freedom Swartz, wife of Wilbur Swartz, will be held from her father's home on Berryville Pike tomorrow at 2 pm. Merrick Lynched After Jail Escape Near Princeton
Walter Merrick, 48, was released by a mob from the county jail in Princeton Kentucky and found hanged three miles away. He was to be tried June 13 for dynamiting Poole’s store in Hopson last February that injured Poole and injured a boy. The mob entered Jailer Curt Jones’s room, bound him, and took Merrick with no opposition. The blast followed a dispute over Merrick’s son being whipped by a teacher, with Poole as county school board chair siding with the teacher.
