The Rev. R. B. L. Strider, rector of St. Matthew’s Wheeling, was elected bishop on the third ballot at a special council held yesterday evening. The council, called for the purpose, included churchmen from across the state and near 100 attended. Strider, a native of Jefferson County, W. Va., has many friends in Winchester and surrounding areas.
Blondella Jackson aged 14 and Louis Green aged 12 were sent to reform school by the Juvenile Court after a spree of robberies and petty thefts. They confessed to several crimes including stealing a coat with a $100 solid gold watch and another watch from Winchester Candy Kitchen. Both watches were recovered and the boys will remain in reform school until twenty one.
