Close Dependence Is Dangerous To Child

Lorine Pruette argues in Women and Leisure that many mothers burden their children with excessive dependence after a husband dies. She contends mothers should seek adult life beyond child care to avoid harming the child’s sense of being loved and to foster healthier family dynamics.

Balancing love for child and marriage valued in parenting

The text extols a balanced approach, urging a mother to love her husband and value her child as part of a shared healthy family life. It emphasizes neither excessive attachment nor neglect, advocating a harmonious domestic partnership.

Parental Diet And Baby Health In Pregnancy

A mother’s diet affects fetal growth and development. Even balanced nutrition has limits and depends on her prior health and nutrition before conception. If the mother cannot supply the child’s needs, her body is taxed during pregnancy and nursing, often for at least eighteen months, risking maternal depletion and improper child development.
