Wickliffe Church To Hold Annual Service This Sunday
Special to The Star Berryville Virginia Wickliffe Episcopal Church built in 1845 on Smithfield estate will hold its annual service this Sunday July 30. The church now uses its nearby Grace Church Berryville as its main congregation while a small band maintains the historic structure. Reverend Dr William D Smith of Essex will conduct with Reverend T Carter Page assisting. Grace Church will be present for the homage to its mother church.

Winchester police learned the two year old found on National avenue with William A. Cloud of Baltimore is Cloud's son Norman. Cloud claimed different alibis and remained in custody as investigators verified the child's identity with Baltimore authorities and a local sergeant. The child stayed with Sergeants Funk and his wife after being found Wednesday. Cloud agreed to a week's visit before taking the boy home.

Young band held on charge several robberies
A group of youthful offenders was rounded up and jailed by acting Sheriff J W Newcome for a series of robberies in Frederick Warren and Shenandoah counties. Edward C Steele Gordon Cissel and Jennings B Hottel and Pauline Sargent are charged. Steele confessed to stealing four crates of eggs from a Reliance produce truck on July 22 and hiding them before selling them with Hottel and Sargent. Prosecution will pursue Warren county charges. Steele previously served time for the one eye rooster case.
