Woman killed as rioters clash in Cleveland on East Side
In a predominate Negro neighborhood raid on Cleveland's East Side gunfire and fire bombs left a 26 year old woman dead and two men with minor wounds. Teen gang members looted stores and set multiple fires near Hough Avenue and Crawford Road. Police and fire crews battled fires for six hours with 300 officers and a helicopter, while snipers fired on police. Joyce Arnett, mother of three, was killed as she screamed from a second floor window. Wallace Kelly and Alton Burks were wounded.

In heavy fighting near the 17th Parallel the 90 Marines repelled waves of North Vietnamese attackers for four hours while covering the withdrawal of their battalion.
