AP reporter Tom Lambert, reinstated by General MacArthur, flights over Taejon Kum River area with four F-80s and a T-33, describing combat patrols on the Korean front and encounters with Red tanks and artillery near Kongju and Yongju.
Virginia's early peach crop, mainly Early-Red-Fre from the Northern Neck and South Central regions, is selling for up to $9 a bushel in eastern markets. Prices are expected to drop as volume rises, with Red Haven upcoming. The crop is reportedly clean with minimal brown rot and insect damage. total state yield around 950,000 bushels, down 45 percent from 1949. National forecast about 56 million bushels, 75 percent of last year.
Senator Gillette of Iowa warned that rising bread and bakery prices may prompt anew congressional hearings on food costs.
