Russians Balk At Mrs Gandhi Peace Proposals

In Moscow Indira Gandhi wrapped up a visit with Soviet aid pledged for India but the Kremlin refused to back her Viet Nam peace plan. She said Soviet leaders would agree only if North Viet Nam accepts the terms as Hanoi offered no comment. Kosygin welcomed other leaders at the airport.

Car Stolen With Keys In Ignition In Winchester

Winchester police report a 1962 Chrysler convertible with keys left in the ignition stolen from James H Madden of 328 Miller St. Madden said he left the car at 10 45 p m and found it missing at 1 45 a m. Police alerted area and state units. Mrs Fred Hunt reported seeing boys in a 1952 53 Chevrolet stealing hubcaps earlier. An alert for the Chevrolet was issued.

Planes Pound North Viet Nam With Record 121 Missions

Wave after wave of U S planes pounded North Viet Nam on Friday in a record 121 missions. The strikes hit oil depots to disrupt fuel reserves and targeted six missile sites near Hanoi, with Navy A4 Skyhawk losses and a pilot listed as missing after being shot down. Casualties were reported among a South Vietnamese government unit on Highway 13 northwest of Saigon, with Viet Cong forces launching a maneuvering ambush. A separate brief noted limited fighting near Saigon and the northward raids against missile sites and oil depots.
