U N Troops Arrive in Congo in Four Planeloads
Four planeloads of U N troops totaling about 380 men arrived in Leopoldville from Tunisia and Ghana as the United Nations begins its force in the Congo. The airlift, led by the U S Air Force, will continue over the weekend with more battalions pledged by Tunisia Ghana Morocco and Ethiopia. Bunche anticipated about 2,400 troops from Ghana Tunisia Morocco Guinea and Mali by early next week. U S Air Force planes began landing with flour aid, as Eisenhower ordered 300 tons of food. The arrival eased tension though lines for ferries to Brazaville remained long.

A six year old Winchester boy died after running into the path of a car on Berryville Ave. Ralph Edwin Snapp Jr. of 1102 West Virginia Ave. died at Memorial Hospital. the driver was Russell L Bayliss of Rt 4. Police noted the boy’s death was the city’s first traffic fatality since June 18, 1958.
