The Winchester City Council unanimously repealed the old loitering ordinance and enacted a new measure criminalizing obstructing free passage in public or publicly accessible spaces. Violators face up to 500 dollars fine, 12 months in jail, or both, with daily offenses counting separately.
The AFL CIO Communications Workers of America leads a nationwide walkout affecting up to 500,000 workers. Repairs and new installations halt in many areas while supervisors handle operations. Beirne calls the offer a PR stunt as wildcat actions spread from Virginia to California.
Palestinian guerrilla forces in Beirut report King Hussein tanks hammering bases in northern Jordan on day two of an all out offensive. They say battles near Jarash five miles from the town and 25 miles north of Amman involve tanks and armored cars as authorities offer limited comment.

J R Russell, the Gainesboro District supervisor and orchardist, announced he will run again as the Democratic nominee after canvassing Gainesboro residents. He said four years of service have been hard but satisfying and that he wanted to hear voters’ views on continuing in office.
Federal Court in Charlottesville issued a temporary injunction to limit Telegraph Workers Union picketing at Western Union's Middletown computer plant. The order allows picketing only at the main gate used by Western Union employees, after union activity at two gates blocked Monte Vista workers from crossing.
A cold front was expected to cross Virginia today bringing scattered showers or thunderstorms by this afternoon or tonight. The forecast notes unsettled conditions across several areas with the possibility of brief heavy rain and gusty winds.
