Winchester bakeries report no bread price increase since the 30 cent federal processing tax took effect. Flour prices rise in step with wheat, with wholesale quotes at 7.10 and 7.60 per barrel including the tax. Authorities warn against unwarranted bread price hikes and dispatch agents to investigate profiteering.

Sargeant Talbott J. Kelley of the Baltimore County police was near death at Union Memorial Hospital from a chest knife wound near his heart. Physicians said he had little chance to live. Kelley, praised for fearlessness, was stabbed last night near a roadhouse at Weisbury as he and his wife and another couple stopped their car. Police could not determine the assailant or motive.
Farmers and fruit growers in Frederick county have applied for more than 400000 in loans under the Federal Farm Emergency Loan Act. Attorney T Russell Cather of the Federal Land Bank of Baltimore says blanks are available at his Reuss Avenue office. No action has yet been taken on the 400000 applications.
A series of union Bible study services for young people continues at Brad dock Street Methodist Church in Winchester. Led by Rev. Preston O.
