Virginia approves nearly four million for parks statewide

The Virginia Commission of Outdoor Recreation authorized about 3.95 million dollars in state and federal funds for park development. Projects include 1.2 million for Mount Rogers State Park in Grayson County and 800 thousand for a wildlife area on the Chickahominy River in Charles City County. Concerns were raised about septic tanks near Smith Mountain Lake and the potential environmental impact of a proposed marina on York River. An environmental study by the Virginia Institute of Marine Science will determine the marina’s final fate.

Supreme Court stays McGovern delegate seating ruling
