Legion building plans advance with completion funding

The Legion proceeds on a building project halted by finances. A .6,000 bond is to be issued, $2,000 appropriated by the Board of Supervisors in $500 yearly installments, and about $5,500 in regional coffers for construction. A further $1,000 is still needed, hoped to be raised from citizens. The brick front will include a semi circular driveway from South Church Street, with a rear frame section if needed. The 80 foot lot backs the site. The first floor features a 60 by 60 drill and community hall, with smaller rooms for organizations, American Legion and National Guard headquarters, and a small kitchen. A north side stair leads to the second floor where a large drill room remains open, and space mirrors the first floor with a north south passage. One upstairs room will serve as Board of Supervisors headquarters. A furnace room will be added to the rear and doors open from the drill hall to three sides.
