A prewar charter created a Washington to Ohio River rail route via Loudoun and Round Hill. Postwar revival led to a charter for the Washington Ohio and Western Railroad. In 1885 Frederick and Winchester voters approved $75,000 in bonds each, Winchester 847 to 4 and Frederick 1179 to 538, aiding the failed project and Shenandoah Valley stock losses. The grand B O and W plan never realized and the Round Hill to Winchester link faded.

Plane Crashes In the North In Yukon
A U S Air Force C 47 crashed five miles east of the Carcross road during search duties for a missing C 54 with 44 aboard. Lt. Charles R Harden, the C 47 pilot, was rescued by two civilian workers after reporting the crash. Three crewmen were injured. weathered by deep snow, rescue planes circled overnight to aid the survivors.
