Richmond Virginia January 16 Dr William Grossmann head of the state health department says there is no major statewide change but a definite drop in influenza cases in some areas especially Buchanan county He cautions that forecasts are unreliable and cites California as an example of sudden rises Meanwhile many schools statewide remained closed due to the mild flu with Newport News and Warwick county reporting mounting sickness and about 15000 Richmond pupils absent today largely due to weather rather than flu concerns
