Hunted Man Ends 48 Hour Manhunt With Suicide Near Home
Larry Parker 30 led state police across snow covered mountains and the frozen Potomac for two days before shooting himself in a cave under a frozen waterfall as searchers closed in. He had scratched "I love Nellie" on the wall for his wife. Troopers Hercules and Johnson were killed days earlier in Maryland warrants for breaking and entering and possession of stolen property. Parker, once cornered, died in troopers arms after a single gunshot wound to the mind and leg injuries from the owl. His mother appealed for surrender over a loud speaker.
