Bunker Hill Youth Killed In Viet Nam
Roger Edward Cooper 20 of Route 1 Bunker Hill West Virginia was killed Monday serving as a Lance Corporal with the U S Marines in Viet Nam. He landed January 6 near Kien Hoa. He was the fifth service member from the area and the first from Berkeley County to die in the war. He was born December 10, 1946 in Winchester son of Roger C and Evelyn Grapes Cooper. He attended Musselman High School before joining the Marines July 20, 1965. Surviving are his parents a brother James L Cooper at home a sister Donna Lee Burtt of Jefferson Maryland his maternal grandmother Iva Grapes Augusta West Virginia and his paternal grandmother Lyda Cooper Winchester. Funeral arrangements are pending arrival of the body at Giffin Funeral Home Capon Bridge West Virginia burial at Tearcoat Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Augusta West Virginia.
