U S District Judge Walter E Hoffman ruled the salvaged tanker African Queen belongs to four Virginians who raised her from the sea. Ownership value to be set at auction later today after the Virginians requested sale to settle the dispute with Gifford Warner of Essex Conn. The stern section, raised after six months work, was brought to Norfolk in September. The first sale attempt drew no bidders. The Rev. Robert A. Whitten aged 74, retired pastor of the Congregational Christian Church, died yesterday at his home 821 Pennsylvania Ave. A minister for over 40 years, he served in Georgia North Carolina and Virginia and led the Brad dock Street Congregational Church for 23 years. He studied at Duke Elon and Moody Bible Institute and held roles with Elon College the Board of Missions and the Southern Convention. He also led the Virginia Valley Central Conference and presided over Winchester Ministerial Association and was a Mason.
