In Stephens City a police officer H C Richardson faced a crowded county court trial for assault with intent to kill. Witnesses testified Richardson fired at Frank Ewing and Ezra Splawn while pursuing a fleeing automobile on Main Street last Sunday. Ida Guard and town officials described actions surrounding the case as they sought bond for Richardson. The hearing continued into the afternoon.
New York traders faced a morning of rising prices across the list with profit taking seen in some leaders. Strong gains appeared in Baldwin and several independent steels oils motors and gas shares amid speculation of unfavorable state legislation. Call money opened at 4 3-4 percent.
The funeral of the colored infant of Corre and Pearl Evans, who died on Sunday, was held yesterday afternoon at two o'clock from the home. After services the body was interred in Orrick Cemetery. The child is relieved to have smothered to death during the night.

The Winchester Gas and Electric Light Company contracted Western Gas Construction Company of Fort Wayne to build a new gas plant on Hast Pall Mall Street, near the Shawnee lime hills. The plant may be operating by April but delays are possible. work on a railroad sidetrack and building foundations is underway.
Mrs Hattie Castleman 25 wife of Brice Castleman died at 523 South Main Street after a three week illness from complications. Funeral from her home Wednesday at 2 pm conducted by Rev Robert B Nelson of Christ Protestant Popal Church with interment in Mount Hebron Cemetery. She leaves husband two children Stewart and Lawrence four brothers and two sisters.
Carter D Brill of Zepp Virginia and Vernie V Orndorff of Star Tannery Virginia wed shortly after morning at Grace Lutheran Church on North Market Street. Rev A A Kelly officiated. Bride is daughter of Obed Orndorff. groom son of Perry J Brill. he works on a farm. Robert Sherman and Frances Kern, Frederick county residents, were married last Saturday by Rev Kelly and will reside in the city with Sherman employed as an auto mechanic.
An aged colored woman widow Frank Brown died Monday at the county siege and funeral services were held at 2 PM today at John Mann Church. The remains were buried in Orrick Cemetery. Undertakers were Jones Brothers.
Edward William McElvoy a 22 year old brakeman on the Pennsylvania Railroad fell from a moving freight car at Inwood West Virginia and had both legs cut off above the ankles and his right arm severed near the shoulder. He was taken to Martinsburg hospital where he was alive at noon with little hope for recovery. He lived in Hagerstown Maryland and was unmarried.
The letter from Mayor W. Glass of Witchester praises H F for timely dispassionate coverage of bond issue concerns. He asks for statewide distribution of the information to voters and warns that legislative approval could bring new faces to Richmond after the next election.
