British Ambassador Kidnapped in Uruguay by Tupamaros
MONTEVIDEO AP British Ambassador Godfrey Jackson was kidnapped this morning by the Tupamaros guerrillas. Witnesses said the ambassador, his driver and two guards were seized near the British Embassy as their car bore diplomatic markings. The ambush follows a surge of political abductions in the Western Hemisphere since 1969, with several victims killed or released after negotiations.
