Virginians Vote Monday on Constitutional Convention Referendum
Voters in Winchester and Frederick and Clarke Counties will join others statewide on Monday to decide if a limited constitutional convention should broaden Section 141 of the state constitution. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The referendum was occasioned by a ruling.

Garbage pickup for Christmas trees on curbside

Winchester man dies in Rt 522 crash near Ninevah
Walter Rhodes Brown thirty of 22 E Hart Street died in a fiery beer truck wreck on U S Rt 522 at Ninevah. Trooper J C Bell said the Dixie Beverage Co. truck veered off the road, fell 15 feet, and burst into flames. Brown suffered fatal injuries and was pinned in the wreckage.

Fog Dense Fog Leads Angler to Hook Woman

Lieutenant Given 12 Year Sentence
An Army lieutenant was sentenced to 12 years at hard labor by a general court martial for four charges including wounding a government stenographer. 1st Lt. George E. Balcom Jr of Nashua New Hampshire was convicted of assault with a pistol intent to murder in October and wounding a bystander plus false registration of his wife at the post hospital.
