UVa Plans Master’s Program to Expand Nursing Roles
The University of Virginia will start a master’s degree program for nurses in September 1972 led by Dean Mary Lohr. Ridge-area principal remains on duty despite blindness
Frank S. Penland principal of Robions Junior High in Chesterfield County is legally blind after retinitis pigmentosa. He continues duties with a 15 degree right eye field, entering stages from back doors, and reading without notes. He was named in Outstanding Young Men in America and serves on the Virginia Commission for the Visually Handicapped promoting free ID cards for the blind.
