Plane Search Party Dropped in Jungle
A 12 man search party parachuted about 3 miles from the Peru crash site as rain and terrain hindered recovery efforts. The wreckage of the turboprop airliner with 92 aboard was spotted 520 miles northeast, while 17 year old Juliane Koepcke survived ten days in the jungle and was treated at a hospital run by the Summer Linguistics Institute.

State Tax Instructions Mailed To Virginia Taxpayers
State Tax Commissioner W H Forst said counties and cities will mail the 1971 state individual income tax returns and instructions to Virginia taxpayers. If a taxpayer does not receive a return by January 15 he should notify his county or city revenue office. Early filing will speed refunds and the 1971 tax changes do not affect returns for 1971 income. The Department of Taxation plans broader implementation and will publish details on new tax laws later in 1972.
