New Method Aims to Remove Chlorine Taste from Water
Prof Max Levine of Iowa State College described a simple inexpensive approach to eliminate the foul chlorine taste in drinking water. He presented at the Society of American Bacteriologists asserting that over-chlorination can remove the taste, while a small amount exaggerates it. He called this super chlorination a breakthrough in water purification and predicted city waters would taste better.

Defense To Be Factor In ’41 Building
The national defense program is the main factor behind 1941 as the peak year for building since 1930. The Architectura Forum forecasts total construction at 7.755 billion dollars, up 18 percent from 1940, with government and defense funds driving a 1.31fold rise to 980 million in military and naval construction. Public housing and private work combine to lift residential totals to 2.6 billion, a 13 percent gain, while private nonresidential activity grows slowly. A price surge for labor and materials could derail the forecast, the forum warns.
