Man with gangrene found roaming in Frederick County
Barton Philips, about 80, was found wandering near Stephenson and taken to Winchester. Doctors diagnosed gangrene in both feet and may require amputation. He was brought to Winchester by Noah Tipton, then handed to Winchester police and Sheriff Pannett. Dr Mc Glass ordered hospital transfer.

Plans Complete For Religious Census Of Winchester City
Large corps of workers finish preparations to conduct a religious census tomorrow afternoon at 1:30. About 350 volunteers were asked. roughly half responded. City divided into districts with two to eight workers per district to limit shifts. Data collected include name age church membership Sunday school yes or no church and location denomination church preference and family card per member. Funeral services were held in Kingwood Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Monroe wife of Julius K Monroe of Lewisburg and mother of Mrs. Harry A Hanst of Winchester. She died at her Lewisburg home after years of ill health. Burial was in Kingwood Cemetery. Wyncoop Freed On Arson Charge In Clarke Court
Clarke County farmer Charles T. Wyncoop walked from the Clarke County Circuit Court room a free man after a jury found him not guilty of burning Arthur Lee’s barn near Castleman’s Ferry on February 3, 1930. The trial, attended by a packed courtroom and 300 spectators, also involved a prior indictment over cutting telephone poles at Lee’s farm on August 3, 1930.
