A heavy explosion rocked the American Powder Company plant in Acton Massachusetts today killing Charles McKinnon aged 44 and seriously injuring another worker. The isolated location of the building helped limit damage though a column of black smoke marked the blast. The injured man was taken to Emerson Hospital in Concord for treatment.
