The General Assembly granted the Winchester and Potomac railroad charter on March 14, 1831 to run from Winchester to Harpers Ferry a 32 mile line with 300000 capital. Retired Clergyman Rev. W Talbert Dies in Winchester
The Rev. Wallace Osborne Talbert 81 a retired Methodist minister and former Braddock St. pastor died at his Winchester home 200 Wadia Ave. He was born January 4 1867 in Monroe county West Virginia and served churches across Virginia Maryland and West Virginia. He retired in 1926 but continued supplying services in the area and often officiated at burials. He married Mary Sue Kershner in 1889 and survived by three daughters and five grandchildren. Funeral 2:30 p m Saturday from his home with interment at Mt Hebron cemetery.

Four Fliers Die In Flaming B 29 Crash In Texas
Meridian Texas February 26 Four members of a 12 man crew were killed when a B 29 bomber from a flight of 20 crashed in flames after taking off from Carswell air base near Fort Worth.
