Byrd plan for state control of county roads passes Va House

The Virginia House of Delegates approved the Byrd bill to transfer all county roads to the state and end county road taxes by a 90 to 7 vote. Coal Miner Severely Hurt Jumping From Moving Train

Clifford Skaggs 20 of Ansted West Virginia lost his right leg above the ankle after leaping from Norfolk and Western freight train No. 64 in Berryville. He was transported to Winchester Memorial Hospital where doctors ampu­ta ted the limb. His companion Raymond Shifflett remained aboard until Shenandoah Junction and returned to Berryville.

Young Motorist Kills Himself After Collision

In Indiana Harbor Indiana a 30 year old man involved in a minor crash early today shot himself after refusing help. A woman in the other car was shaken but not injured. Harry Thaw Injured In Auto Crash On Baltimore Frederick Road

Harry Thaw suffered a broken right arm and shock in an automobile accident on the Baltimore Frederick highway five miles east of here. He was hospitalized for at least two days though doctors said his condition was not serious. Thaw and E Morgan Pendleton were riding in a car that blew a tire and went into a culvert. New York Feb 26 The stock market showed modest inclination toward higher levels after the federal reserve rediscount rate cut. Early trading saw some selling as prominent issues slipped about a point but buyers soon lifted sectors in chemicals foods and specialty issues.
