Staunton gas rates cut as plant expansion boosts economy
Staunton, Va. gas users will pay lower rates starting February 1 after action by the State Corporation Commission. The new schedule lowers charges to 2.10 for the first 10 000 feet 1.85 for the next 10 000 feet and 1.60 for over 20 000 feet while warning against speculative use. The reduction follows improved plant performance and a new carburetted water gas machine purchased last August, which doubles capacity and lowers costs.

Polhamus Dies in Clarke at 82
Albert Polhamus died at his sister Mrs. J. H. Bayliss home in Berryville from age related illness. He was eighty three and had been confined to his bed about two months. He was a son of the late Abraham and Mrs. Polhamus of Frederick County and lived around Winchester most of his life. He is survived by one sister and four brothers. Funeral services were held at Round Hill Presbyterian Church with Rev. Harper officiating. Interment followed in Round Hill graveyard.

Stonesifer Widow Dies After Surgical Operation
Mrs. Martha Tobias Stonesifer, widow of Rev. James B. Stonesifer former Centenary Reformed Church pastor, died last Saturday in Lancaster Pennsylvania during a surgical operation. Funeral planned for tomorrow with interment beside her husband at Fort Loudoun cemetery. She was about 54 and known for culture and charity in Winchester and had many warm friends there. She leaves sons James Paul and Robert and daughter Mary with ties to Pennsylvania Texas and Missouri.
