Authorities report Thomas Mee was shot to death in a confrontation related to a person named Rence Gardner. Police investigation continues as leads are pursued and the community seeks answers amid the violent incident.
Clarence Gardner of Hampshire County’s Capon Bridge area was captured after barricading himself in a small house following a fatal shooting near Mountain View. McKee, a 40 year old farmer, died after a shotgun blast to the abdomen. Gardner, from a well known local family, was jailed in Romney without bail pending grand jury action.
The funeral service for Mrs Sarah J Parlett wife of Rev John H Parlett was held at the Greenawalt home on Senseney road conducted by Rev George W Stover of the United Brethren Church. Interment followed at Mount Hebron Cemetery with pallbearers M S Glaize John D Hartman D A Fries John Thwaite W A Buncutter and Joseph A Hawkins named.
Mrs James B Hodgson travels to Richmond Virginia after receiving a telegram about the illness of her daughter Mrs J Roland LaBadie formerly Miss Nellie Hodgson.

The All-Russian central committee orders immediate seizure of valuables from churches of all creeds in Russia to sell for famine relief. Valuables include gold and silver candlesticks gold covered icons chalices and salvers with values variably estimated by authorities.
The Joint Legislative Committee finishes its investigation of the Virginia State Highway Department. A majority report is expected by February 20, detailing waste and careless administration under Commissioner George P. Coleman, while a minority report may also be submitted. Dr B M Roszel outlined the academy s long history at a Rotary Club meeting. Chartered 137 years ago the school survived the Civil War and grew to become a well known institution with alumni including Yale and Glasgow graduates. The building served as a northern hospital during the war and was later rebuilt and renamed Shenandoah Valley Academy.
Funeral services for John W. Myers, who died Friday at Memorial Hospital, were held Sunday at his son Dr Walter D Myers home on Washington Street. The burial followed at Mount Hebron Cemetery with a large gathering of friends and colleagues. The service was led by Rev A A Kelly and Rev Robert B Nelson, with hymns sung by a selected choir. Pallbearers included T B Patton D F Yost M M Lynch John W Rosenberger W B Cooper Lewis F Cooper James S Russell Shirley Carter W F H Bosserman Dr E C Stuart Dr B B Dutton Hy D Fuller. Myers had worked as a traveling salesman for Cooper Brothers and J Cooper and Sons for over 25 years. The death followed a stroke.

Fred L. Glaize of Winchester and Sheriff Panneh accompanied Oliver Hoyem president of the National Committee on Prison Labor, American Federation of Labor, on a jail inspection. Hoyem said the local jail is the best kept he has seen and commended its cleanliness and feeding of prisoners.
