500000 More Relief Recipients Sought by WPA Plan
Washington February 11 Aubrey Williams acting administrator of the Works Progress Administration said Roosevelt asked Congress for 250 million emergency relief to add 500000 people to the relief rolls bringing the total to about 1950000. He noted unemployment conditions were spotty and that the money would prevent discharging 450000 workers previously planned. The House may debate the measure next Tuesday with Senate action expected soon.
