Airliner hijacked to Cuba from San Juan
An Eastern Airlines flight with 119 aboard was hijacked from San Juan to Miami and diverted toward Havana after a crew member reported a gunman on a stewardess. Capt. William Latimer was about 350 miles northwest of San Juan when the hijack was filed with Miami control. The jet was the sixth Eastern aircraft to fly to Cuba since January 1.

Winchester man charged in West Virginia stabbing death
James David McBride a West Virginia man home from Fort Bragg on leave was stabbed to death near North River on Route 50 east of Romney West Virginia. Johnny Lee Shanholtz 21 of Winchester is charged with murder and held in the local jail as extradition is arranged.
