Judge Knapp Dies After Abdominal Operation at 79
Judge Martian A. Knapp of the Circuit Court of Appeals died in a Washington hospital after a major abdominal operation. Born in Stafford Indiana, he entered federal service in 1891 as an interstate commerce commissioner and later served as presiding judge of the Commerce Court. He was 79. He had been assigned to the fourth judicial circuit covering Virginia North and South Carolina Maryland and West Virginia. He resigned from the commission in 1910 to become a circuit judge and oversaw the Commerce Court until its dissolution in 1913.

Aged Southern Railway Worker Joseph Watkins Dies
Joseph Watkins aged 72 longtime Southern Railway employee and bridge foreman died at Winchester Memorial Hospital after an operation.
