Man and Wife Die Within Hours in Stephens City

Albert Bush and his wife died within hours of each other after a long marriage. Mrs Bush died of heart failure from shock twelve hours later. They were natives of Stephens City and survived by two daughters and a sister. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery after a double funeral at the family home.

Young Men Hurt When Car Turns Turtle on Pike

L. L. Fletcher and Murphy escaped serious injury after their Ford rolled twice on the Valley Turnpike near Stephens City. The men, cut and bruised, were treated at the scene and in Strasburg, with one losing use of an arm and both in shock from the cold. The Strasburg car owner, Mr Painter, towed the wreck to his home.

Fire destroys large stable owned by James H. Lockhart

A blaze of unknown origin last night consumed a large stable in the rear of Highland Avenue belonging to James H. Lockhart. Insurance covers the estimated 700 plus loss. three horses and hogs were removed with two horses burned but believed recoverable. Neighbors Bilis Jones and others rushed through smoke to pull animals to safety as firefighters kept the fire from spreading to nearby houses.

At the close of Baltimore wholesale markets this afternoon spot wheat quoted at 1.86 1/4 and corn at 1.15. Winchester dealer offered 1.70 for wheat after market close in Baltimore.

Horse Missing After Minstrel Show At Empire Theater

Floyd Ritter left his horse and buggy tied in an alley while attending a minstrel show at the Empire Theater. He reported the team missing. police searched, and the horse later found abandoned on the road near Chambersville. The bay horse weighed 1175 pounds, with a short mane and brass harness, and three blankets were used to keep it warm.

Robbers Bind Night Operator at Shenandoah Junction

Stil Found Hanging From Tree At University

Charlottesville Virginia February 10 a colored man's body found yesterday morning hanging from a tree near the Rotunda at the University of Virginia. The body wore a white apron and was suspended by a rope at neck height about sixteen feet from the ground. Efforts were made to remove it before classes. A cart carried the body to the hall for examination. Mysterious sidewalk symbols in black paint resembling a triangle a dagger and circles appeared, suspected to be the work of a secret student group.
