Large crowds attended Gypsy Smith Jr as he urged believers to share in divine nature and suffering, warning against cheapening the gospel. Weekend services outline Children’s Choir start Wednesday and multiple Sunday meetings with no Monday service.
Dr Archibald P Osborne, noted tenor of the Clarke County Choral Society, will sing I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say at the Christ Protestant Episcopal Church choral evensong on Sunday afternoon February 9. The 4.30 pm program includes hymns, canticles, prayers, and a solo by Osborne, with free seating and visitors welcome. A brief car for sale notice and other details appear at the end.
Sergeant Lewis B. Snapp of Company 1 116th Infantry awarded the Croix de Guerre for his actions on the Verdun front two weeks after Capt Robert Y. Conrad fell in October 1918. He led his platoon to victory despite a severe leg wound from a machine gun bullet. son of Mr and Mrs Mason Snapp of this city.

Mr Job Kendrick Bangs a famed humorist and lecturer will give a free talk at City Hall Auditorium tonight after 8 30. He previously impressed Winchester audiences and served in France with soldiers during the war. He is slated for a large gathering in Baltimore tomorrow evening.

Benjamin Romine, 20s, of Boyce Clarke County, seriously injured in Winchester when he was run over by a Coca Cola Bottling Works truck driven by C. B. Garber. Romine and two companions rode the truck. Romine reportedly jumped off as it stopped and was struck by the vehicle. He is in Winchester Memorial Hospital with suspected internal injuries and a fractured skull. Garber stopped the truck and rendered aid. condition described as grave but not immediately fatal.
