Four Escape From Frankfort State Reformatory
Four armed convicts overpowered two guards at Frankfort State Reformatory early today and looted the prison arsenal. They stole a taxicab at the gate, used knives on attendants in the hospital ward, and fled after handcuffing night captain Luther Dunn to an X ray machine. Snow Derails The Cannonball
Norfolk and Western passenger train No. 22 known as the Cannonball derailed in heavy snow drifts one-half mile east of South Norfolk, narrowly missing injuries to passengers and crew. The four car train and mail car left the tracks at a rail junction near 11 am, halting with the locomotive over the westbound line and interrupting traffic on both directions.

Favoritism Denied at Home for Needy Confederate Women
Mrs A J Montague president of the Home for Needy Confederate Women appeared before the Senate finance committee to deny favoritism in selecting inmates. She said the home can care for 27 more inmates from a waiting list of about 150 if the annual appropriation of 25000 is increased. She noted annual financial audits and vouchers handled by the treasurer and comptroller. She outlined selection on the basis of need and provided a list of 61 inmates by county. The home could house 82 women in single rooms and 10 in the infirmary with higher funding. She denied discussion of Senator Pages bill about police and firemen associations and tax matters since 1931.

Ten New Meningitis Cases Reported Across Virginia

24 Planes to Fly 1900 Miles to Canal Zone

Clowser Suit To Be Opened On Feb 10
The suit by three Winchester residents seeking 75000 in damages over injuries from last May 13 wreck is slated to open Monday in Baltimore. William H.
