A large Handley High School audience enjoyed a fashion show recalling past eras. Dr Glass and Polly Harrison opened with Quaker scenes and a quilt presentation to a statuesque Virginia Lupton as a bride. Mrs Reinberg sang as Adelina Patti, encores followed.
The Handley Library highlights six readable science titles in its collection. Microbe Hunters by Paul De Kruif and The Mind in the Making by James Harvey Robinson lead a list aimed at showing science’s promise. Also featured are Up With Science by Slosson, The Fruit of the Family Tree by Albert Wiggam, The Mysterious Universe by James Jeans, and From Immigrant to Inventor by Michael Pupin.

Betty Weakland America's youngest evangelist and radio preacher will sing and speak at a Market Street Methodist Episcopal Church service Thursday evening February 8 at 7:30. Arrangements have been made for the event with coast to coast recognition for the speaker.
Betty Weakland, 17, has preached for ten years and crossed the continent four times. She claims a world record for sermons in more churches than any peer her age and has spoken to 6 million people in her ministry. She tours south after a current campaign in J Pa and will visit Portage Cumberland Winchester Martinsburg with her family assisting.
Mrs. B. F. Cary announces radio broadcasts from Atlanta and WRVA Richmond honoring Sidney Lanier. The first program airs this evening at 7 30 eastern standard time with a second at 8 15 Monday evening February 5 featuring Dr. Douglas S. Freeman.

Baltimore February 3 The belief that animal teeth are healthier than human teeth is challenged by Dr. Adolph H. Schultz of Johns Hopkins. At a Baltimore section of the International Association for Dental Research he reported that lower primate teeth show similar levels of eruption age, decay, and loss as human teeth in their natural environment.
Col Forrest W Brown age 78 of Charles Town Jefferson County West Virginia died at home. He served 16 years as prosecuting attorney for Jefferson County and was a prominent Democratic leader and bar association president. He was born 1855 admitted to the bar at 21 and owned shares in the Harpers Ferry Potomac river bridge. Survived by widow Emma Tucker, son Forrest A Brown five grandchildren and three sisters. He was a Mason and Episcopalian active in church affairs.
Charles Rouss Fire Company members are asked to meet at the engine house Sunday at 2 30 PM to attend the annual sermon led by Captain M D Weaver.
Walter Garton, identified as a mob member, stands with attorneys William C. Meyer and Otto Imberstag during his trial in St. Joseph for murder arising from the hanging of Floyd Warner, a Black man, last November.

Police report that George Shepherd alias E H Stanley, wanted for a local business coup here, was seen in Daytona Beach Florida after a Cumberland Maryland bank alerted authorities. Stanley posed as Stanley Tool Company representative in December, secured cash by forged checks, then vanished prompting warrants.
Weather outlook for the week beginning Monday notes heavy snow in the north and rain or snow in the south mid Atlantic states. Temperatures start moderately cold, rise by Wednesday, then turn colder Thursday night and Friday, with snow expected midweek.
A bill for a nationwide unemployment insurance plan was ready for introduction in Congress. Sen. Robert Wagner and Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins led the proposal to establish a federal tax on employers with exemptions for those contributing to approved state unemployment systems.
Theodore F. Wood director of public safety declares nudism forbidden in Philadelphia. At a conference with Dr Henry Strong Huntington president of the International Nudist Conference and Ilsley Boone executive secretary, Wood says nudism will not be permitted while he is director prompting questions about burlesque shows and gymnasiums.
Retiring postmaster Harry C. Stouffer and incoming postmaster W. Nelson Page were honored at a dinner with staff at the Southern Inn. Former Postmaster J. W. Sibert and retired clerk Benjamin H. Potts attended, as did others, while music by a 12 piece orchestra accompanied remarks about service and future cooperation.
A meeting will be held at Middletown High School next Tuesday evening February 6 at 7 30 to organize an adult study class. C W A funds are available for communities with at least 15 interested people. The free course targets residents who have not completed the fifth grade and will cover generally useful subjects. Rock Enon already hosts a similar class for several months.
Rotarians from over sixty countries prepare for the twenty fifth Rotary International convention to be held in Detroit June 25 to 29. Delegates will come from around the world representing about 150,000 business and professional men in more than 3,600 cities. John Nelson of Montreal is actively involved in preparations.
Rotary planners in Detroit expect crowds near ten thousand for the 1934 convention the first in central North America since 1930. Governor Joseph B. Mills leads a 52 club district including Ann Arbor to Alpena with host city hospitality offices and a preconvention four day conference for directors and governors elect. Clinton P. Anderson of Albuquerque chairs the convention committee and was Rotary president in 1932 33.
Cap t Hunter B. Grimm a longtime Winchester resident and former Common Council member dies at 3 30 in the afternoon after years of heart trouble and a recent pneumonia. He served as Friendship Fire Company captain for four or five terms and was active in Grace Lutheran Church and local politics. He leaves three sons, a brother, a sister, and several grandchildren. Funeral services set for Monday at 2 p m at Grace Lutheran with burial in Mount Hebron.
President Mendieta signed a decree returning the Cuban Electric Company properties to American ownership. The cabinet met to discuss the issue and confer with company representatives. Guards around the properties were increased after a threat of a workers strike.
Carload Chevrolet automobiles arrive for prompt delivery as announced by a local car dealer. The advertisement notes availability for immediate purchase and dispatch through the Motor Company.
F F A Championship basketball with three games and a wrestling demonstration occurs at Handley Gym tonight at 7 p.m. Admission is 25 cents, school children 10 cents.
