Gas Likely Cause of Fatal Berryville House Fire
Berryville Mrs Frances Mae Ritter, 50, died when escaping bottled gas in the kitchen flooded the home after a suspected gas pipeline rupture. Ruth Ritter, 16, helped others to safety while a three year old was dropped to safety from a window. Firefighters battled two hours to reach the trapped body as the house burned, with the lodging of the Ritter family and Ruth Ritter among survivors.
