Six Die? No, Six in Hospitals From Slick Roads Crashes
Six persons were hospitalized in Winchester and nearby counties after multiple automobile crashes on slick, rain‑slicked roads. A 1948 Chevrolet sedan left the road near Berry injuring Bigelow Thomson, Miss Coble, and M. Thomson. all were taken to hospital with non serious injuries. A Kernstown crash involved Lewis Smith and family members. Miss Phyllis Campbell later to be discharged. A truck driven by Herod Mathias overturned, killing a dozen fowls and causing damage to several other vehicles. Authorities noted no serious injuries beyond cuts and bruises and continued the investigation.
