Rail Auto Crash Kills Two at Route 11 Crossing
A train colliding with a car on U S R 11 just north of Winchester left two dead and two injured. Victims were Mrs LeRoy McBee 21 of Ridgeway W Va and Russell Fogle 31 of Bunker Hill. Mrs Fogle and Fogle's wife were hospitalized along with McBee and his wife. The engine struck the car as a passenger train with engine and caboose halted soon after. Local witness Carroll Henkel saw the impact and described dust and wreckage. An inquest was deemed unnecessary after statements.

Stove Explodes In Empty Kitchen On Middle Rd
An early morning blast in the kitchen of the C. C. Bauser home on Middle Road shattered the water jacket and firebox of a wood stove. Debris and embers damaged the room, doorways, and furniture while a nearby family avoided injury as they were in an adjacent room. Virginia Bauserman narrowly missed the escape.

Victim of Crash Near Boyce Dies
Mrs. Chester Delphey of Hagerstown died at 2:55 AM in Winchester hospital from injuries suffered in a Sunday automobile crash near Boyce. Her husband, driver of a Hagerstown vehicle, had a fractured left shoulder and was later discharged. He posted $500 bond for reckless driving and left for Frederick. The hearing date is not yet set. State Trooper J H Wood and Commonwealth's Attorney Edwards Williams weighed involuntary manslaughter charges. The Delpheys were en route to Elkton Virginia to visit relatives when their car collided with Army Col. Cheney L Bergholf of Arlington. Bergholf suffered a broken jaw and five broken ribs. his son Lt C L Bergholf Jr. had head injuries. They planned transfer to Walter Reed. Mrs Bergholf Sr. was unhurt and Mrs Delphey, unconscious on admission, died of skull fracture and internal injuries. Her body was taken to Frederick for burial.
