Big Battleships Gaining In Favor
Navy debate on sea fortresses versus battleships continues. Projections place a $130 million cost per fortress at 2000 dollars per ton, with experts arguing economic advantages over existing 35,000 ton and upcoming 45,000 ton battleships. General designs stem from blueprinting admirals ideas for the future fleet. Some congressmen favor larger craft though no indication Roosevelt will seek authorization this winter.
