1940 Budget Finalized With No Citizens Attending Hearing

Ten coaches of a Southern Pacific passenger train jumped the rails near Orange Texas injuring at least 21 people. Six cars overturned trapping a baggage clerk and assistant who freed themselves. Houston residents R E Robertson and G W Bland were hurt along with 17 unidentified Black passengers. In Meridan Mississippi a Yazoo and Mississippi Valley freight train wrecked, seventeen cars damaged but crew escaped unhurt.
