Seven Proposed Rule Changes for Football by Coaches
The American Football Coaches Association proposed seven rule changes for 1934 to open up play. They include allowing forward passes from any point behind the line, moving goal posts to the goal lines, abolishing dead ball and fumble rules, extending sideline out of bounds to 15 yards, and wind dependent ball surrender under a new day rule. Coach Harry Kipke called them mere suggestions.

Bank Refusal to Join Federal Deposit Insurance Plan
The First National Bank of Englewood Chicago led by J M Nichols declines to join the federal deposit insurance pool unless compelled by the government. Treasury officials say Congress decided long ago banks will participate, while 97 percent of accounts will be guaranteed under the plan effective January 2. Nichols warns of coercion and questions the need for insuring losses of mismanaged banks. Exports in November reach 184 million while imports total 128 million, yielding a 56 million trade balance for 1933. The gold plan aims to raise domestic prices and depreciate the dollar against foreign currencies, with dollar-pound rates fluctuating around 5.10.
