Judge Blocks Waste Discharges Without Environmental Review
A federal judge ruled all waste discharges into non navigable waters illegal and barred issuing new permits without an environmental impact statement. The decision extends to navigable waters unless a study is done, affecting about 20,000 permit applications and broad definitions of non navigable waters. Two canoeists sued, claiming a stake in the Grand River, against the Army Corps of Engineers EPA and the Army Secretary.
