Frederick supervisors vote against leasing lot to authority

Frederick County supervisors vote 3 to 1 against leasing the county owned portion of the Boscawen street parking lot to the Winchester Parking Authority. They choose to pay about 5000 dollars as the county share of beautification costs and retain control, with one member, Raymond C. Sandy, dissenting. The Parking Authority plans 15000 dollars in landscaping and monthly rental of spaces, and would pay 500 dollars monthly to the county for the portion on its property.

Byrd and Spong Back Tax Bill in Senate Majority Vote

Virginia senators Harry F. Byrd Jr and William B. Spong Jr voted with the majority as the Senate passed the tax reform and tax relief bill 71 to 6.
